As the investigation deepens, they discover that their former leader, Taylor, and his team have gone rogue. The team uncovers a sinister conspiracy involving DNI experiments that caused a catastrophic explosion in Singapore years earlier. His team becomes infected by Corvus, a corrupted AI born from those experiments. Corvus drives them to search for a mysterious “Frozen Forest”.

The Player and Hendricks become infected as well, which escalates their mission into a battle against both human enemies and the Corvus AI. After defeating Taylor and his team, Hendricks succumbs to Corvus. The Player kills him and attempts to stop the AI’s control. In the end, the Player purges their DNI, erasing Corvus. It is revealed that everything after the surgery happened in a simulation, with the Player’s consciousness living inside Taylor’s mind.
